NY State PFAS Rebate Program: Up to $5,000 for Westchester Homeowners
New York State is offering private well owners up to $5,000to install PFAS treatment systems. Westchester County is one of only 6 eligible counties. Here's everything you need to know — and how we help you get it.
What Is PFAS and Why Is Westchester Affected?
PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) are a class of over 12,000 synthetic chemicals used since the 1950s in everything from non-stick cookware to firefighting foam. They're called "forever chemicals" because they don't break down naturally — once they're in your water, they stay there.
In Westchester County, PFAS contamination has been confirmed in multiple communities:
- Pound Ridge — Wells tested above both NY State (10 ppt) and federal EPA (4 ppt) limits in May 2024
- Armonk / North Castle — Designated a NY State Superfund site. Multiple wells above the 10 ppt state standard
- Northern Westchester — Towns with high private well usage (Somers, North Salem, Bedford, Yorktown) are at elevated risk
The EPA tightened the federal maximum contaminant level to just 4 parts per trillion — far stricter than previous guidance. Public water systems must comply by 2029, but private well owners are responsible for their own water quality now.
How to Get the PFAS Rebate — Step by Step
Get Your Well Water Tested for PFAS
We provide free PFAS water testing for Westchester County homeowners with private wells. We collect a sample from your tap, send it to a certified lab, and have results within 7-10 business days.
We do this for free.
Review Your Results
If your well tests above the NY State action level for PFAS, you qualify for the rebate program. We'll walk you through your results, explain what the numbers mean, and outline your treatment options.
No obligation to buy anything.
Choose Your Treatment System
Based on your specific PFAS levels and water chemistry, we recommend the most effective and cost-efficient solution. Options include point-of-use reverse osmosis, whole-house carbon filtration, or ion exchange systems.
We're brand-agnostic — we recommend what works best.
Installation + Rebate Submission
We install your system (typically in one visit, Saturday available) and handle the rebate paperwork. You submit your receipts and test results to the state — we prepare everything you need.
